FRESHLY cooked herring have helped a Hemsby life saving team cook up a fund-raising treat.
On Sunday the distinct smell of herring cooked in rolled oats and beef dripping drifted over the beach at Hemsby,
The fish were being cooked in a traditional way at the Hemsby Inshore Rescue Service's annual herring festival.

Norman Toll, 78, and Peggy Parke, 74, met each other in the late 1940s through their involvement with the former Gospel Hall in Great Yarmouth.

Factory worker drowns after crash

A FACTORY worker died after his car skidded on ice and turned upside-down into a water-filled ditch, an inquest has heard.
Marcello Ferriera Da-Costa, 37, of Audley Street, Great Yarmouth, who was described by his brother as a “safe driver”, was found in an upturned car in a ditch next to the A143 Beccles Road in Haddiscoe on February 20, 2010.

A PACKED public meeting has called for a parish referendum on whether a wind turbine should be built in the heart of a scenic Broadland village.
More than 160 villagers attended the special parish meeting in Hickling's Methodist Chapel Hall on Tuesday evening, called after campaigners raised concerns over the parish council's plans to erect an 18m turbine as part of its £600,000-plus scheme for a new community hall.

Argument sparks pole chase in Yarmouth

A MAN was chased with what is believed to be a metal pole after an argument last Friday morning in Great Yarmouth Market Place .
Just after 10.10am, a black man in his 40s, wearing a leather type jacket, was seen arguing with a white man, aged in his 30s and wearing a black coat and a grey cap.
