GREATYarmouth's Bin Tyler defended his British super-featherweight kickboxing title for the fifth time last weekend at the Ocean Room, winning every round of his grudge title rematch with Norwich's Andy Godbold.

Tyler was in excellent form, landing fast punch combinations and excellent head kicks, outclassing the Norwich fighter with his superior footwork. The judges gave him every round.

Tyler, who fights out of the 3 Lions Gym in Yarmouth, will be contesting the WKA European lightweight title on December 6 at the Ocean Room with tough Polish fighter Daniel Naliwikjo.

English welterweight Thai boxing champion Liam Plant stopped highly-rated Thai Ning Jedemi of Bournemouth in the fourth round of his challenge for Plant's title. Plant is improving in every bout and dedicated this brilliant win to a family friend, Karla Saunders, who died of cancer last week.

Plant's fight was awarded 'fight of the night' and he landed every punch, kick and knee strike in the book to beat his more experienced Thai opponent, who could not handle Plant's power.

Jade Munro (12), fighting with a knee injury, didn't look her usual self but still did enough to clinch the Commonwealth schoolgirl Thai boxing 45 kilo title from Scotland's aggressive, undefeated, Cassie Murdoch (13) on a split decision.

One judge gave it to the Scottish girl on aggression and kicks and the other two gave it to the Yarmouth girl for her far higher ratio of knee strikes in the clinch-work in which she showed her superiority. In Thai boxing the clinch-work and knee strikes score more than kicks and punches.

Jade, ahead of the world championships in Spain, added the schoolgirl Commonwealth title to her two British and two national titles. Proud coach Frank Crosswell said: “Jade would beat any 12-year-old girl in her weight in the country, she's proved that this year.”

Junior Eastern Counties under 30 kilo champion Nicky McHugh (eight) successfully defended his title, beating Ely's Chase Crosswell (eight) in an excellent bout.

Luca McComb (seven) contested the junior Eastern Ccounties under 25 kilo title with Bury St Edmund's Ryan Sinclair (eight) and won the title with his workrate, aggression and better boxing.

Aaron Lewis won his rematch with Dave Carson on points in an excellent display from both lads. Arron Monson beat Darren Hope on points in his debut bout. Daniel Gordon beat Bury's Adam Potter on points. Tommy Bracken won his bout. Daniel Dawson and Daniel Folkes boxed a demo bout as their opponents weighed in too heavy. Ben Mitchell's bout was declared a no contest.

All of them train at the 3 Lions Gym.

The local fighters were supported by 700 in an excellent show. Everyone at the 3 Lions Gym thanked all their sponsors for making the event possible.
