A little story: George Grice was born in 1892 at 150 Caister Road, Great Yarmouth and at the age of six managed to fall off the back of a coal cart. This left him with a withered left arm, such was the skill of medics in those days. This meant that by 1914, now aged 22, he was very much in line for the First World War - “Your Country Needs You” being the call of the time.
Your recent picture of the old Queens Hotel brought back a few memories of the time I spent there in the summer of 1952, not, I might add as a guest, but as a member of staff..
This is a picture of the Scottish fishergirls with my late father (he is at the driving wheel) in order to advertise the latest picture at the Empire Cinema in Great Yarmouth. This is how they advertised in those days, or at least my dad did.
