169 people caught without a TV Licence

ALMOST 170 people in the Great Yarmouth area were caught without a TV Licence between January and June this year, new figures show.

They were caught by TV Licensing's database of more than 29 million addresses which allows it to see which properties are unlicensed at the touch of a button.

Anyone caught watching TV without a valid TV Licence risks prosecution and a fine of up to £1,000.

Mark Whitehouse, TV Licensing spokesperson, for East Anglia, said: “These latest figures show how effective TV Licensing is at catching evaders in Yarmouth on behalf of the honest majority who pay.”
