A month-long transport boost has been introduced in Great Yarmouth to help holidaymakers and daytrippers get about the town.

A new daytime bus service has been launched in Great Yarmouth linking the town’s railway station with the seafront, town centre and one of the area’s largest holiday parks.

Operating until September 3, the Our Bus Wherry 100 service runs seven days per week, every 30 minutes, with the aim of connecting passengers using the railway station.

Operated by Acle-based Our Hire Ltd and sponsored by the Wherry Lines Community Rail Partnership, it is aimed at holidaymakers and day visitors travelling by rail to the resort.

The circular bus route includes stops at Vauxhall Holiday Park, Britannia Pier, Market Gates Bus Station, Trafalgar Road, Marine Parade and St Nicholas Road.

It follows a successful trial in 2022.

Jerry Cushing, owner of Our Hire Ltd, said: “Following a successful pilot in 2022, we are pleased to be operating the Our Bus Wherry 100 service again this year and to have teamed up with the Wherry Lines to ensure that passengers arriving or departing the town by train can enjoy frequent connections with the railway station as well as reaching some of the town's important tourist attractions.”

Stephen Hewitt, from the East Norfolk Transport Users Association, said: “We are very pleased to see the launch of this direct bus service linking Great Yarmouth railway station with the town centre and seafront.

"It provides an opportunity for both those coming to the town on holiday to reach their destinations easily as well as providing communities in Norwich and along the Wherry Lines to utilise both the railway and connecting bus for a great day out on the coast.”

The single adult fare is £2 with children aged five to 19 £1.50 and under-fives free.

English National Bus Passes are also accepted, with a range of discounted daily and family tickets also available from the driver.
