Police officers detected almost 70 driving offences during an action day in Great Yarmouth last week.

Officers from the Roads and Armed Policing Team, alongside colleagues from the Community Support Unit, were in attendance with partner agencies during the operation on November 22.

In total 62 vehicles were escorted to the check site with 69 offences identified which led to one car being seized for having no insurance.

Four people were caught not wearing a seatbelt and seven were seen using a mobile phone.

Insecure loads, window tints and multiple vehicle defects were also discovered and 48 Traffic Offence Reports (TOR) were issued.

Sgt Ade Hales of the Joint Roads and Armed Policing team said: “It was disappointing to identify so many commercial vehicles that were overweight, which also had secondary offences identified, such as insecure loads, defective brakes and tyres either seriously under-inflated or void of tread.

"These kinds of offences in combination can lead to serious road traffic collisions, with the implications all too obvious."
