The family behind a much-loved dining spot on the Norfolk coast has taken over the neighbouring fish and chip shop.

Couple Gayle and Nicholas Deary have run Beach Rock Bistro along Beach Road in Sea Palling since 2021.

It serves dishes that celebrate the abundance of high-quality local produce, including fish, crab and lobster caught off the coast of the seaside village.

When the previous tenants of the neighbouring Beach Rock Fish and Chips left in January this year, the pair decided to take it on.

The takeaway has been renamed The Mermaids Catch and it is being given an extensive refurbishment ahead of its reopening on Saturday, April 6 2024.

Mrs Deary said: "We are a family-run business and we have created a really nice vibe at the bistro, which we want to transfer to the fish and chip shop.

"Customers will also be able to sit down in the bistro with their fish and chip takeaway."

Alongside traditional fare, there will be options such as loaded fries and stonebaked pizzas.

The family's association with Sea Palling goes back a century and the couple's three children, Elsie, Harrison and Max, help out with the business.
