A staple of Barton Hall is coming to an end after sharing their songs with the region for the past seven decades.

The Barton Turf Choral Society will be “going out with a bang” on Saturday May 20, as they play their final performance at The Church of St. Michael and the All Angels church in Barton Turf.

The chorus was formed at Barton hall back in 1947 by Lady in waiting to the Queen Mother, Delia Peel. In recent years the choral has been led her niece Jeanie Peel at Barton Hall.

The choir will be accompanied by Cathedral organist David Dunnett, the Barton Players and have soloists as they perform Mozart’s Requiem and Handel’s O Praise the Lord.

Roz Watt, secretary of the chorus said: “We are all fired up to go out with a bang and I think it’s going to be fabulous.”

Musical director of the group Jonathan Stamp will be in charge of the final performance before stepping down from his role.

Tickets are available on the door from 6:45pm at £12 with light refreshments included. Children and students tickets are free.
