The A47 Acle Straight has reopened following an earlier crash between four cars.

Two fire crews from Great Yarmouth and one from Acle were called to the scene near Halvergate around 10am today, with firefighters using hydraulic rescue equipment to cut free two people who were trapped in vehicles.

A spokesman for the East of England Ambulance Service said six patients in total were taken to the James Paget University Hospital in Gorleston with minor injuries. Paramedics were called at 10.08am.

Norfolk police has confirmed that the road, which was closed in both directions, is now reopen.

There were long delays following the crash, believed to involve four vehicles, with heavy traffic on the A12 in Yarmouth, northbound between Pasteur Road and the Acle New Road junction, and A149 Lawn Avenue in Yarmouth, between North Quay and Tar Works Road.
