Baby Chloe bridges the generation gap for Gorleston and Repps with Bastwick families

Any baby is sure to get fussed over by their loving parents and relatives.

But cute Chloe Christina Harvey is assured to get extra attention and love from a long list of relatives as she has become the latest in a fifth generation family celebration.

As well as being fussed over by her parents, grandparents and great grandparents, the two-month-old from Gorleston is receiving lots of love from 102-year-old Brenda Johnson and 101-year Hilda Mann - the youngster’s great great grandparents from both sides of the family.

On Saturday, her relatives gathered in the village hall at Repps with Bastwick, where the 101-year-old lives, to celebrate the latest addition to the family.

Chloe’s proud parents are Jayne Murdoch, 24, and engineer Sam Harvey, 22 who live in Upper Cliff Road and have twins, Harry and Joey, aged four.

Most of the family live in Gorleston, with the exception of Mr Harvey’s father Christopher, 48, who lives in Eaton, and Miss Murdoch’s grandmother Tina Kerswill, who lives with her mother in Repps with Bastwick.

Mrs Johnson lives in Gorleston with Mr Harvey’s grandmother Judith Harvey, who is 70.

Miss Murdoch’s father, Peter Kerswill, 47, also lives in the town.

Miss Murdoch said it was wonderful to have five generations together and felt lucky to still have her great grandmother.

The mother of three puts the family’s longevity down to strong female genes and a healthy lifestyle.

She said: “Hilda has always been healthy - she has never smoked, although she does still enjoy the occasional Bailey’s.

“Both her and my nanny, Tina, who is 80, have kept their senses of humour and are always smiling too, which I definitely think helps you live longer.

“It does make us feel special to have five generations and to have two great great grandmothers for Chloe and Harry and Joey.

“We really treasure them greatly and I know that my nanny loves it when the boys come to visit, which we do every other weekend.”

Miss Murdoch added she hoped that the family’s apparent longevity would be passed on in genes to her so she could lead a ‘long and happy life’.
