The finishes touches are being applied to a Wetherspoon pub which has undergone a multi-million pound renovation and the addition of a new hotel.

The Troll Cart, in Great Yarmouth, reopens its doors to the public next Tuesday, with an extended pub and new hotel.

Pub manager Todd Inns said staff were looking forward to welcoming hotel guests as well as customers back into the new-look pub.

The 28-year-old who started off pulling pints at the pub nine years ago added: “I’m absolutely buzzing, I can’t wait to open the doors.”

Work started on the project in July and the pub remained open until mid-August, before closing for the bulk of the work to be completed.

A total of 55 new jobs have been created at the new-look larger pub, as well as a hotel.

The Wetherspoon pub, in Regent Road, now offers a 23-bedroom hotel on the site, on the second and third floors of the building.

A new pub garden has been built where a Vape shop used to be before it was demolished and seating will still be set up outside the front when the weather permits.

The existing pub, which first opened in April 1996, has been extended as well as being completely refurbished and fully redecorated.

The pub chain has been the sole occupant of the four storey building since it opened 22 years ago. Originally the top floor was envisaged to be a nightclub but that use never materialised.

The new hotel rooms can accommodate a mixture of double, twin and family occupancy and there are also two accessible rooms suitable for people with disabilities.

The rooms and hallways are decorated with artwork produced by pupils from a local school, Stradbroke Primary Academy, in Lowestoft Road, Great Yarmouth.

The ladies toilets feature a special ‘anteroom’ complete with comfy chairs where women can socialise en route to the facilities.

Bouncers will be employed at the pub daily when it first re-opens and then just at weekends.
