More than 27,000 illegal cigarettes are believed to have been found in Great Yarmouth store raids

A joint operation between police and Trading Standards officers in Great Yarmouth has seen more than what is believed 27,000 illegal cigarettes seized.

The operation which saw three specially trained dogs used involved seizures at two stores in the town yesterday.

As well as the cigarettes, 5.5kg of what is believed to be illegal tobacco was also seized.

It is said the finds had a legitimate worth of about £16,000.

As well as Norfolk Trading Standards and Great Yarmouth Police, the raids involved the Norfolk Licensing team and B. W. Y. Canine, a Pembrokeshire based company that provides specialist search dogs to Police, Trading Standards, HMRC and the NHS.
