A coroner’s hearing into the death of a young Great Yarmouth boxer who died from a single punch will take place next week.

Jakub Moczyk, 22, was knocked unconscious during the final round of a boxing match at Great Yarmouth’s Tower Rooms on November 19 last year.

He was taken to the James Paget University Hospital in Gorleston and placed on life support, but was pronounced clinically dead on November 21.

Senior Norfolk coroner Jacqueline Lake held a short review into Mr Moczyk’s death at Norwich Magistrates’ Court today.

No members of his family were present.

Mrs Lake said a pre-inquest hearing would be held into the death of the boxer on Wednesday, July 19, at Norfolk Coroner’s Court on Thorpe Road, Norwich.

The inquest opened last November when coroner Yvonne Blake said Mr Moczyk had died of a traumatic brain injury.
