Concerns have been raised about the lack of signare to promote the new A12/A143 Link road.

Great Yarmouth borough councillor Trevor Wainwright, expressed frustrations that due to a lack of signage directing motorists to the road, they would instead go “rat-running” through nearby estates.

He said he had been told the A12 Beaufort Way roundabout would be signalised before any signs were put up.

He said: “The link road is a lovely road, A12/A43 absolutely beautiful, but we had a meeting the other week at council and I asked if there could be some sort of signage directing people there.

“We had the Easter holidays and all these extra people coming to Burgh Castle, Belton, Bradwell, and the holiday camps. The road cost £7m and the idea was to cut down the rat-running through nearby estates.

“If there is no signage to promote the road then we are going to get queues of caravans going through the estates.

“I wanted to go and put a sign up myself but the council said you can’t do that, and they wouldn’t put signs up until they signalise the roundabout which could take months and months, and by then the summer will have been and gone.”

Also in the Great Yarmouth, residents have been told that planned parking changes on Kennedy Avenue and Emmauel Avenue are going to public consultation.

People have long been frustrated over people parking on the verges of the two roads and double yellow lines are set to be put down to prevent this.

The public consultation will see the borough council put notices through the doors of those living in the area.

Cllr Sylvia Pratt said: “It has been an awful long time coming. We are always doing something at one area then in three weeks time there will be issues on another road. That’s just the way of the world now, there’s so many cars they cause such disruption and Emmanuel Avenue has been a nightmare.”
