St Nicholas Priory Primary School pupils from Year 5 visited the Fisherman’s Hospital to present residents with blankets they had made for them for Christmas as part of a community links project.

The children had been studying the Anglo-Saxons during the autumn term and used computer design software to create Dark Ages designs which they embroidered onto felt and then used different sewing techniques to attach their designs to the blankets.

It was part of a school project which had a focus on making links within the community.

The children had met some of the residents when they visited the building, which comprises several cottages and is incorporated as part of Great Yarmouth Municipal Charities, in September and shared food they had made during the term with them. The Fishermen’s Hospital was built in 1702.
