A Gorleston primary school has set up a harvest food collection on behalf of its local church, St Mary Magdalene.

Ormiston Herman Academy says it has had a fantastic response so far, with members of staff, pupils and parents coming together to bring in donations and make a real difference to the lives of local people.

St Mary Magdalene’s Rev Matthew Price, who is a regular visitor to the academy, saw the huge quantity of donations already received and thanked everyone involved.

Tinned meat items are particularly welcomed as donations.

The school is continuing to accept donations until November 1, when a special harvest assembly will be held. Parents and carers will be invited to come along and see just how successful their big-hearted efforts have been.

Ormiston Herman Academy’s aim now is to collect enough food to make a continuous trail around the circumference of their school hall.
