Gorleston youngsters dress up for World Book Day
Pupil at a Gorleston school really got in the World Book Day spirit by dressing up as their favourite literary character, including Dennis the Menace, Iron Man, Wonder Woman, and Spiderman.
The day at Ormiston Herman Academy began with an all-school assembly where staff members talked about their favourite childhood book character.
Teacher Rebecca Pettit showed off her pointe technique by standing upright on her toes while telling the children about Angelina Ballerina.
Throughout the day, students also participated in a range of book-themed activities, including writing about their favourite characters.
Teaching assistants Ceara Manifold and Jamie Speed organised a quiz involving matching staff baby photos with their favourite children’s books.
Ormiston Herman Academy principal Kate Rutherford, said: “It was lovely to see everyone dressed up and to hear about each person’s special connection with their favourite book.
“I think everyone enjoyed the activities and the challenges that the teachers had planned.
“As always with these kind of events, a huge thank you must go to parents and carers for the phenomenal amount of effort that had clearly gone into costumes.”
