Novice and experienced joggers alike are invited to lace up their trainers as entries open for the East Coast Run 2018, which takes place on Sunday, October 14.
The popular run was fully subscribed last year, with 800 runners pulling on their running shoes and entering the race, which is organised by Great Yarmouth Borough Council, in association with the Great Yarmouth Road Runners.
This year’s run is open to all people aged 16 and over.
The circuit, which is all on-road, starts and ends at St George’s Park, and includes historic and tourist landmarks around the town and seafront.
The race headquarters will be at St George’s Theatre and spectators are encouraged to come along and support the runners.
Cathy Tooley, the race director and member of the Great Yarmouth Road Runners, said: “We were delighted that the East Coast Run received maximum entrants last year, and we expect a sell out again this year, which reflects the rising profile of the event.
“There’s always a great atmosphere, with supporters cheering on the runners around the course and showing a real community spirit. When you complete the course and get your award there is also a real sense of achievement so it’s a great experience for everyone.
“The race is in October so there is still plenty of time for new and experienced runners to train for it. It’s also a pancake flat course which means it’s a great opportunity for people of all abilities to attempt a long-distance run.”
The run starts at 10.30am and each runner’s performance will be timed with a chip. All participants will receive a bespoke race momento, whilst there are also age category prizes plus prizes for the leading runners.
This year’s race is supported by Adnams, Arthur Jary, Repro Arts, Sports Link and Great Yarmouth Town Centre Partnership. A successful ‘Couch to 10k’ programme has also been organised by Great Yarmouth Road Runners again this year, encouraging new runners to tackle the distance.
The entry fee in advance is £15 for club-affiliated runners and £17 for non-affiliated runners.
There is an extra £3 fee for paying on the day, however please note that the event sold out in 2017 so this is subject to availability.
