An inaugural village community fete has been hailed a big success.

Hundreds of people gathered under mostly blue skies for the first Bradwell Community Fete on Saturday.

The event was the brainchild of an organising committee of fifteen residents and aims to replace previous smaller events with something that will appeal to the whole community.

Borough councillor for the Bradwell area Carl Annison said he wanted to thank the organisers of the event for a great day had by all.

He added: “It was an excellent day for our village, hundreds flocked to the newly organised event.

“It was like years ago on Green Lane field, residents all coming together to support the event.”

He also thanked Rev Matthew Price and all at St Nicholas Church, the parish council and event helpers.

Rev Price praised the parish council for lending the use of the playing fields for the event.
