A woman with an adventure bucket list is to trek and climb in the Everest region of Nepal, raising money for a charity close to her heart.

Ex-Army veteran Cass Watts of Bradwell is adventuring for the Veterans Lifeline charity.

Cass, who has a son Alfie and works as an intermediate clinical lead at Beccles Hospital, explained: “Before I die I want to... I hear this so many times a day working in healthcare, so I decided to set myself a challenge.”

Cass left the military due to sustaining injuries while on exercise after six years service.

She will fly to Kathmandu on

September 29, flying into the small airport at Lukla, 9,373ft above sea level, and start trekking on September 31.

Trekking includes taking on base camp and further up the mountain to advanced base camp which is 6,340m/20,800ft high. Cass is also going to push herself in reaching higher points; this will entail using ice axes, crampons and crossing ice ladders, traversing deep crevasses, steep glacial sections and camping in temperatures below -15c. The trek itself takes around 21 days depending on weather and health.

Cass said: “Veterans Lifeline works with ex-service personnel who require support after leaving the service, enabling them to get back to work.

“Not all wounds are visible, its those wounds which require a huge amount of support, this includes sufferers of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.”

Top Body gym in Gorleston offered her free training and have set up fundraising events to help raise money for her charity.

A strongman/woman competition Top Body hosted at Gorleston Clifftop Gala raised £260 and another fundraiser is on October 7 with a running seminar at the gym with all ticket money being donated to Cass.
