A man and woman admitted a blackmail charge when they appeared at Norwich Crown Court just before they were due to stand trial.

Michelle Bowler, 32, of no fixed address and Brendan Burt, 36, of Coronation Terrace, Great Yarmouth, both admitted attempting to blackmail a man on December 29, last year.

Burt also admitted causing actual bodily harm to the same victim on December 29, last year and having an offensive weapon, a metal bar in George Street, Great Yarmouth.

Hugh Vass, prosecuting said the pleas were acceptable.

The pair pleaded just before a jury was due to be sworn in to hear their trial and pleas were taken separately as they did not want to be in dock together.

Judge Anthony Bate adjourned sentencing until July 9 and ordered reports. They both were remanded in custody.
