Today has been the hottest day of the year for the region with temperatures soaring up to almost 29C.

Santon Downham saw the highest temperature recorded in Norfolk with a peak of 28.6C.

But the breeze on the coast saw the mercury levels falter, with Cromer only seeing temperatures of 19C.

Other highs across the county included 27.2C at Tibenham and 25.7C at Marham.

The hottest place in the region today has been across the border in Suffolk, where Cavendish saw 29.2C.

Norfolk-based forecaster Weatherquest has said: “It will be a fine, dry night with long clear periods, so temperatures will dip away to around 6C later, although it will turn cloudier in many places before dawn.”
