Joint managers of Great Yarmouth Town set their sights on incredible 50 mile charity walk

The joint managers of Great Yarmouth Town Football Club will take on the hardest challenge of their lives as they walk 50 miles for charity in under 24 hours.
The pair will have been use to warming up before games in their playing days but they will be taking this to the extreme later on this year.
Adam Mason and Martyn Sinclair will be walking from the club’s ground on Sandown Road all the way to Stowmarket Town’s ground in Suffolk to raise money for the mental health charity, Mind.
They will start the walk at midday from Wellesley recreation ground on Friday November 23 and hope to arrive in Stowmarket around midday the following day.
This coincides with Great Yarmouth Town’s game with Stowmarket in the Thurlow Nunn League on the Saturday.
Mr Mason, said: “We wanted to raise money for a charity which was relevant to the area. Mind does some brilliant work in Great Yarmouth and Waveney on a number of levels so we’ve chosen it as our charity.
“There’s a certain stigma attached to mental health issues particularly with men and we feel as members of the community we have a responsibilty to raise awareness of such an important issue.”
With the walk being scheduled during winter the pair are well aware of the magnitude of the task.
Mr Mason, added: “It is going to be very tough, we’re walking almost two marathons in less than 24 hours. It is definitely the hardest challenge of my life.
“I’m sure people recognise how tough of a task this is and we hope they can donate whatever they can to a great cause. Even if it raises just a bit of awareness about how people can go for a walk and have a bit of a break from whatever is bothering them then we will have done our job.”
The joint managers say they have a bit of a reputation for being lively and passionate on the touchline but Adam expects them to be “quieter than usual” that Saturday.
In 2016 they took part in a 24 hour sleep out and raised £3,000 for homeless charity Anglia Care Trust.
