A 23-year-old drug dealer has been jailed for five years after admitting a string of offences in Norfolk and Hampshire.

Tyrone Opoku-Ware of Rowley Gardens, London, pleaded guilty after five days of evidence was heard at Norwich Crown Court.

Opoku-Ware was sentenced yesterday (Thursday, February 14) by Recorder Evans after admitting two counts of offering to supply Class A and B drugs and one count of supplying a Class A drug in Great Yarmouth town centre.

He also pleaded guilty to two counts of possession with intent to supply Class A drugs - namely cocaine and heroin - in Portsmouth in July 2012.

The offences took place in Yarmouth between April and May 2012.

On one occasion on Thursday, May 3 Opoku-Ware met a number of different males in the Market Place area and when stopped by police was found with cannabis, two mobile phones and a large quantity of cash on him.

Detective Constable Jody Payne, of Norfolk Police, said: “We believe Opoku-Ware intentionally targeted Yarmouth with a view to dealing Class A and B drugs in the town centre.

“The action of officers in both counties has helped to break supply chains ultimately taking drugs off the streets.

“We hope such a sentence serves as a warning to others that Norfolk Constabulary will not stand for illegal drug activity and those caught will be robustly dealt with.”
