Man dies in Belton despite attempts by ambulance crews and firefighters to save life
A man has died despite attempts by ambulance crews and firefighters to save his life.
The emergency services were called to a home in Amhurst Gardens, Belton on Saturday (February 11) to reports of a man who was not breathing.
Two ambulance crews, an ambulance officer, and fire service co-responders were dispatched just before 5pm but despite their best efforts the patient was pronounced deceased at the scene.
A spokesman for the ambulance service said: “Our thoughts go out to his family and friends.”
Last July the fire service started a scheme to support the ambulance service.
Where a patient is not breathing and their heart has stopped beating, firefighters will be deployed as community first responders at the same time as the ambulance service.
Firefighters were already trained in basic life support and are equipped with defibrillators, but could now potentially get to the scene faster than the ambulance.
