The information s gathered every month at the hospital using touchscreen technology.

During September 2008 nearly 1,000 patients (993) gave their feedback on services across the hospital from the Emergency Assessment Unit, the wards, Medicine for the Elderly out-patients and the Arthur South Day Procedure Unit.

The NNUH results for September 2008 were:

Medicine for the Elderly out-patients - 100pc said they would recommend the hospital to family and friends, 100pc said they were made to feel welcome, 99pc said they were treated with dignity and respect

Arthur South Day Procedure Unit - 100pc said they would recommend the hospital to family and friends,100pc said they were made to feel welcome, 94pc said they were fully involved in decisions about their care

Emergency Assessment Unit - 98pc said they would recommend the hospital to family and friends, 97pc said the department was clean and tidy, 90pc said they were treated with dignity and respect

Wards - 96pc said they would recommend the hospital to family and friends, 93pc% said they had confidence in the nurses, 88pc said medical staff explained treatment in a way they could understand.

Earlier this year the health watchdog, the Healthcare Commission, reported that the Norfolk and Norwich was the highest-rated multi-specialty hospital in the country for quality of care.

The Norfolk and Norwich came 11th overall in the Healthcare Commission national in-patient survey out of 165 trusts for providing a high quality of care but the 10 trusts who performed better were all small, single-specialty trusts.
