Paul Ovens, 36, of Sandown Road, Great Yarmouth, appeared at the town’s magistrates’ court last Monday.

The court heard how Ovens had been seen to beg in a public place on several occasions despite being warned about his conduct.

He was handed a three-year Criminal Behaviour Order (CBO) for persistently begging and was banned from entering the town centre.

The provisions set out in the CBO, or criminal ASBO, state that Ovens must not:

• Beg or present to beg for money, cigarettes or any other item (by sign, word, gesture or positioning yourself in a way that would suggest this) within the county of Norfolk;

• Enter an area defined by a red line on a map, including most of Yarmouth town centre and the whole of Regent Road between 10.30am and 4pm every day.
