An investigation to find a missing 31-year-old man from Great Yarmouth has been stopped after police established the man had left the country.

Nuno Gomes was reported missing on Tuesday and police were concerned for his welfare, saying it was very unusual and out of character for Mr Gomes to be missing.

He was also described as being well known as a handyman in the Portuguese community in Yarmouth.

A police spokesman said: “Following investigations officers from Great Yarmouth searching for missing 31-year-old Nuno Gomes have established he has left the country for Portugal.

“Enquires will continue to ensure he is safe and well but in the meantime police would like to thank the media for their help in this matter.”
