A top boss at Great-Yarmouth based energy giant Perenco UK has announced he will retire next week.

John Sewell, who has worked at the oil and gas firm for 10 years, will be replaced in the role of Southern North Sea (SNS) operations manager by decommissioning manager Keith Tucker.

Mr Sewell joined the firm in 2003 after spells at Shell, Arco and BP.

The announcement comes just over a year since he helped to oversee a £251.7m deal with BP to buy its Southern North Sea gas assets.

He said: “I do believe that there continues to be a great future in the SNS and that Perenco will continue to play a major role in that future.

“I will be taking the next 6-12 months off and making a decision after this time whether I will continue in retirement or look for other career opportunities.”
