Keepers and staff from Kessingland zoo Africa Alive! have raised £2,000 on the Three Peaks Challenge for the attraction’s chosen charity, Save the Rhino.

The walkers included Ryan Sharp, Amanda Lambert, Ruth Wallis, and their colleagues Joel Beasley, Jonny Savil, Luke Goldsmith and Conner Holifield from Africa Alive! and their friends Lee Brooks, Andy Watts, Becky Raider, who had all trained in their spare time, preparing themselves for the gruelling challenge, plus minibus driver Stephen Burrill who also works for Africa’s Alive!

The Three Peaks Challenge involves climbing against the clock to the top of Ben Nevis in Scotland – the tallest of the three mountains, at 1,345 metres (4,413 feet) in height – followed by 978m (3,209ft) high Scafell Pike in England, and finally Mount Snowdon in north Wales, at 1,085m (3,560ft).

The Zoological Society of East Anglia, which owns Africa Alive! and Banham Zoo, is currently aiming to raise £25,000 to support the fieldwork to save endangered rhinos.
