An owl sanctuary is appealing to the public for help tracking down one of its birds after the animal flew the nest.

Shadow, a two-year-old tawny owl, escaped from Fritton Owl Sanctuary, on Beccles Road, Great Yarmouth at around 1.20pm this afternoon (November 25).

Mark Weston, who owns the sanctuary, said: “He was being tied on to one of his perches when he got spooked and flew off – he still has jesses tied around his feet.

“If a member of the public does spot him approach slowly and try to place him in a box.

“He has been hand-reared and is not aggressive at all.”

Mr Weston fears the bird may not be able to fend for himself in the wild.

He said: “He probably hasn’t gone too far – with help from the public I’m sure we can find him.”

If you do spot Shadow please contact Mr Weston on 07951786069 or Louise Thorp on 07983401861.
