Shock closure of town centre pub in Gorleston

A high street pub has shut suddenly - but should re-open soon as its brewery owners look for new operators.
Shoppers and drinkers in Gorleston High Street were shocked to see closure signs pinned to The Feathers this week.
The pub announced its closure with type-written notices saying it would be closed “until further notice.”
Additionally there is a large notice in the side window stating that the car park would be closed too.
The watering hole is one of three leased by local pub group JD Taverns who also run The Sun Inn in Bradwell, and the Turnstone in Hopton.
A spokesman for the group said the arrangement with the brewery had come to an end when the lease came up for renewal, and that the pub would be changing hands.
The brewery, she added, would not want to see it empty long so the expectation was that it would open again sooner rather than later.
Kevin Huggins of Fusion hairdressers in the high street and vice chairman of the Gorleston Traders Association said it was a popular venue that played a big part in the life of the high street.
The Christmas lights’ switch on took place right on its doorstep, he said, adding that the pub had a lot of history.
