A young engineering business offering services to the renewable energy sector has added a big new contract to its portfolio.

Stowen Clean Energy has secured a maintenance contract with Norwegian group Equinor at Sheringham Shoal offshore wind farm off the North Norfolk coast.

From its base in Great Yarmouth, the company will be providing inspection and testing services and maintenance works for the 88 turbines on the wind farm.

Managing director Matthew Owen said the Equinor contract, which will run until at least the end of 2018, was “significant” for the young company.

“The long-running service contract will secure employment and give confidence in the services we can provide to the wind energy sector in the future,” he said.

Founded in 2016, Stowen Clean Energy is the renewable energy arm of Stowen Group, which employs 48 people and has a turnover of more than £6m.
