It was launched at SeaChange Arts Life’s a Beach Latin American street party and is part of a restoration project at St John’s Church

The artwork is part of the St John’s Kneeler Cushion Project led by the Great Yarmouth Preservation Trust and funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund.

The idea of the textile collage, incorporating a simple running stitch, was introduced to the project by textile artist Carol Desborough.

The aim is to make 150 panels to form one piece of artwork that can be reassembled in display spaces.

It will form part of the St John’s Kneeler Cushion Project exhibition in September and be available for display at other locations. To take part contact project co-ordinator Rachel Harrison on 0778 5750129 or email rachel.gypt@gmail.com

Great Yarmouth Preservation Trust’s St John’s Kneeler Cushions Project is also to host a course of artistic textile workshops, led by local artist Genevieve Rudd at Great Yarmouth Library.

The workshops are part of the development of the preservation trust’s St John’s Kneeler Cushion Project, funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund.

The charity has acquired St John’s Church and plans to repair and conserve the Grade II-listed landmark, which has been empty for a decade, as a conservation and cultural heritage hub

The workshops will run on three days - July 28; August 11 and August 25, from 10am until 2.30pm.

The free workshops will reference artists such as Cas Holmes and Sue Brown and explore working with images, words, stitching and patching.

Places are limited. Contact project co-ordinator Rachel Harrison on 07785750129 or email at rachel.gypt@gmail.com
