Visitors enjoyed around 100 rides and attractions including dodgems, a helter skelter and, of course, plenty of candy floss.

The fair, which was organised by the borough council in conjunction with the Showmen’s Guild, ran from Thursday to Sunday.

The mayor, Kerry Robinson-Payne, hailed the event a success.

She said: “This year’s fair again proved hugely popular, with hundreds of families visiting the town centre during half term to enjoy some festive fun.

“The Thursday and Friday were particularly busy. I visited to open the fair on the Thursday and it was buzzing.

“This annual tradition always brings some additional colour and vibrancy to the town centre and is a great way to mark Easter, the start of spring, and the start of the tourism season.

“It rightly remains a favourite and long-standing highlight in the borough’s packed events calendar – and long may it continue.”
