Two arrests after police chase involving helicopter in Potter Heigham

A police chase lasting over 20 minutes led to two arrests.

An Essex-based police helicopter from NPAS Boreham was scrambled to assist in the pursuit which ended in a country lane in Potter Heigham.

A marked police car flagged a Renault Laguna to stop after number plate recognition software raised a query about the vehicle’s insurance.

However the driver of the car failed to stop after being asked to do by officers and a pursuit ensued.

A man in his 40s and a woman in her 20s were arrested in Dove House Lane on suspicion of dangerous driving just after 8.40pm on Saturday.

Both have since been released from custody as investigations continue.

On social media, people living nearby reported seeing a heavy police presence in the area.

Witnesses are asked to contact PC Peter Richeda at Great Yarmouth Police Investigation Centre on 101.
