It is the turn of a Great Yarmouth guest house to step into Channel 4’s teatime spotlight tonight.

Former hoteliers and Gogglebox stars Steph and Dom Parker continue their makeover show One Star to Five Star by moving into the Lyndhurst in Princes Road.

The celebrity couple were spotted enjoying the sunshine on the Prom Hotel’s terrace in July, but at the time were keeping tightlipped about the nature of their filming mission.

Tonight kicks off a week of programmes aimed at taking the Lyndhurst to a five star rating in five days.

To achieve this the Parkers move in and try to address all aspects of service at the hotel from the menu to the decor.

In the first episode they challenge the owners to add some “specials” to their breakfast menu and add a “taste of Norfolk” welcome.

Later in the week they help to host a coffee and cake morning, prepare a fishy dinner, re-brand the exterior, and take their guests on a Norfolk Broads boat trip.

The Lyndhurst is owned by Darren Ball and Annette Brady, who decided to take on the challenge of running their own guest house after Ms Brady turned 50 and wanted to mark the milestone by making a big change.

Running the 10-bed guest house was a world away from office life in Milton Keynes, she said.

Ms Brady said she had twice ignored Facebook pleas to apply for the show but eventually gave in.

She said filming the show was “a really good experience” and that Steph and Dom were “lovely.”

“They are the same on camera as off camera, and really easy to get along with,” she said.

“There were about 15 crew and all of them were lovely too, no Prima Donnas at all.”

She said she applied because as first-time guest house owners they needed a bit of guidance and were also keen to promote Yarmouth.

“We both love the town,” she said.

Their first year in business had been busy but things were quietening down now, she added.

One Star to Five Star is on Channel 4 tonight 5.30pm.
