A group of volunteers who want to restore a Norfolk lifeboat are holding a fundraising event on Sunday.

The Winterton on Sea Lifeboat Restoration Group have organised the event called Sea Sunday.

It will be held at Winterton beach car park and there will be displays and a chance to meet the volunteers who are working to restore the Edward Birkbeck, which was based in the village between 1896 and 1925.

The event, which runs from 9am and 5pm, will also have a raffle, with a star prize of a trip for two on the Caister lifeboat.

There will also be guided walks around the village at 11am and 2pm. They cost £5 for adults and £2.50 for children.

The Edward Birkbeck saved 96 lives until the RNLI closed the village’s lifeboat station. The vessel is back on the Norfolk coast after being moved from Conwy in Wales after a harbour master wanted her to return home instead of scrapped.
