A woman has suffered severe head and pelvic injuries after falling from the seawall at California Gap, near Great Yarmouth.

Gorleston Coastguard said she had been walking along a coastal path on Saturday night when she tripped, rolled over “jagged rocks”, and then off a 4ft seawall.

The coastguard was called out shortly before 10.50pm to help carry her from the beach and onto a waiting ambulance.

She was then rushed to the James Paget Hospital in Gorleston.

A spokesman for Gorleston Coastguard said the woman had initially tripped around 10ft up from the seawall, before rolling down an embankment.

“She then rolled over some jagged rocks, off the seawall and then onto the concrete,” the spokesman said.

“She was in quite a bad way.”

The spokesman advised people to take care while walking along the coast late at night.
