A daughter who stole more than £26,000 from her elderly parents leaving their care home bills unpaid had her hearing to claw back cash adjourned for further inquiries into what, if any, assets she might hold.

Susan Thynne, 52, of Beccles Road, Gorleston, was jailed 10 months at Norwich Crown Court last month for theft of £26,711 between April 2015 and July 2017, from her parents, who both have dementia.

Thynne was back in court for a confiscation hearing and appeared via a video link from Peterborough jail.

Hilary O’Keefe, prosecuting, said that the Crown was looking to see if there were any assets to confiscate so the money could be paid as compensation to the care homes. Judge Moore explained to Thynne: “The prosecution is to try to recoup the money that you stole for compensation so that the organisations are not out of pocket.”

She adjourned the hearing until Thursday July 19.
