THE sun shone in London on Sunday for an outdoor performance on a grand scale, and nearly 50 children from the Great Yarmouth area were there to take part. Children from Breydon, Peterhouse and Edward Worlledge Middle schools travelled to the Scoop Theatre beside Tower Bridge, to tell the story of their town in dance, drama and physical theatre.

The Yarmouth production - premiered in Yarmouth Town Hall two weeks ago - was put together in a week of workshops led by Andy Graham, director of The Longest Story in the World, with the help of international artists, and teachers from the schools. Similar workshops took place in Leicester, Bishop's Stortford and London, and the grand finale saw all 250 children showcase their work in an open air amphitheatre, watched by hundreds of tourists.

The Longest Story organisation is dedicated to enabling children all over the world, and from all walks of life, to work creatively together to express themselves and tell their stories. It was a moving experience to be part of such a far-reaching international project. The Yarmouth children performed extremely well, and were a credit to themselves, their schools - and their region.
