KINGFISHER ABC com-petitors took five golds and one silver at the prestige HSK Boxing Cup.

The boxing tournament held on October 11 and 12 at Hillerod, Denmark featured 170 bouts with clubs from England, Sweden, Norway, Iceland and Denmark.

Ben Savva of Kingfisher ABC beat L Frimark of Slagelse. The first round had Savva working well behind his left jab and using the ring to his advantage.

The second round started with the tough 29-year-old Danish boxer trying to take the fight to Savva who again kept his composure under pressure, scoring well while keeping out of danger.

The final round left Frimark little option but to come forward in a attempt to make up the deficit. Again Savva used skillful boxing to land several uppercuts.

The bout ended with a 9-4 points win and a well deserved gold medal for Savva.

Stevie Middleton of Kingfisher ABC met Toni Kidman in a very one-sided final. The Danish boxer was completely out-classed by Middleton's counter-punching style with Middleton winning convincingly 27-4 to achieve a gold medal.

Paulius Macivleuilius of Kingfisher ABC boxed N Anderson in an arena packed by fans wanting to watch the local favourite.

The tough Danish boxer's all-action style was match punch for punch by Macivleuilius, with both boxers having previously stopped their semi-final opponents.

In the first round neither boxer was prepared to give ground and in the end the Danish boxer was beaten by the Kingfisher boxer's faster hand speed and defensive skills to give the gold medal to Macivleuilius by 12-7.

Nathon Smith of Kingfisher ABC beat J Marchant of Romford ABC 8-7 on points to win a place in an all-English final. Both boxers showed good skills in a bout that finished with Smith winning by the closest of margins.

Cain Brunning's bout with M Mongon of Bridgewal turned out to be a low-scoring cagey affair in contrast to Brunning's semi-final 9-0 win over Jakko Lampition of Team Finland.

With both boxers defending well and boxing off the back foot the low score concealed a very skill full display of boxing with Mongon eventually coming out on top to win gold by 5-2.

Swayley Jay of Kingfisher ABC boxed T Kiman of Team Finland. Jay boxed in the final, as he had done in the semi-final, against local boxer Paul Suih of HSK. With Good movement and fast skillful boxing, Jay was a convincing winner 8-2 on points to gain a gold medal.

The trip to Denmark has given all the boxers valuable experience and was a great success with five golds and one silver won by the six Kingfisher boxers who entered.

Kingfisher ABC's next show will be at the Ocean Room, Gorleston on Wednesday, November 26.

Dinner tickets for the show are available from the Ocean Room direct on 01493 667890 or boxing only on the door from 9pm.
