Rollesby visited Rocklands hoping to build on last week’s victory, and having won the toss elected to bat.
This decision seemed unwise as Rowell accounted for D Cook (0) and A Fakes (8) with only 14 on the board. This brought Catchpole and Youngs to the crease and the pair played with control, rotating strike and punishing anything off line and length.
Youngs was the first to reach a half-century, in a flurry of fours off Howard, before being deceived by Barnett for 58. This brought Roffey to the crease, who was quickly into his stride taking the attack to the bowlers, while Catchpole continued serenely to his 50. However, Catchpole was run out backing up to a sharp piece of fielding from Pulsford for 50. This brought Browning (13no) to the crease and together with Roffey, they took the total to 183-4 from their 45 overs, with Roffey finishing 42 not out.
Rocklands’ response started slowly with Walker and Hinchcliffe struggling against another excellent opening spell from Flett and England. The pair batted patiently, until Hinchliffe (20) was undone by an excellent delivery from England with the score 37.
Pulsford continued in watchful manner, with Walker combining patience with occasional signs of aggression. Pulsford survived an early scare, but was finally snared by Browning for 13 in the same hands of Barnden. Walker was joined by young Thrush, who played some pleasant shots, however having just completed his half-century Walker was undone by Catchpole for 52 with the score on 96.
Thrush was then left high and dry by his skipper and was run out for 8. With the run rate increasing, Howard and Barnett tried to be aggressive, but in the face of some fine death bowling from the returning Flegg and England, the home side just could not close the gap and Rollesby ran out comfortable winners, with the innings closing on 144-4.
Fleggborough KA Man of the Match – J Catchpole 50 and 1-22.
