Daniel Smith 2nd Dan became the eighth instructor from the Phoenix Karate Schools to gain his AMA coaching qualifications, when he was presented with his certificate by Chief Instructor Charlie Trorey 5th Dan at the Hopton class. Daniel has trained with Charlie since he was seven years old and has spent the past year attending the necessary courses and obtaining the qualifications needed to get his instructor’s licence. Daniel has been a major performer in the Phoenix display team over the years and has helped out as an assistant at gradings, fundays and other events. He has also been successful as a competitor, winning 11 major titles and has coached the younger members from ring side as well. Assistant coach Rosemary Smalley who attended her first coaching course this month will be looking to obtain her qualifications some time next year.
