East Coast Run sees fast times

PUBLISHED: 15:13 28 October 2010

Sunday saw the annual running of the Great Yarmouth Road Runners’ East Coast 10k Run.

After appalling weather in the morning a strong field of over 550 took to the streets around Yarmouth. Runners came from all over the country, and from other countries.

Approximately 30 marshals, 20 army cadets and friends and families were involved in organising the event.

The weather turned and conditions could not have been better for fast times and personal bests.

First home in the quick time of 31:24 was Gordon Lee from Leicester Coritanians who pipped Elliot Palmer from Ipswich Harriers (31:41).

With most of the club members out on the course marshalling, the only Road Runner taking on the challenge was Steve Stringer who finished quicker than last year in 52:23, placed 281st.

With the final runner finishing in just over 1hr 20min, the quality of runner this event has started to attract gets higher each year.

Thanks went to everyone who helped in any way to make the event possible.

In last week’s parkrun event three Road Runners were in the field of 42. First back was Andrew Baker who finished in 21:30 and placed fourth. Next home was Peter Spandler in a pb 26:21. New club member Linda Carter finished in 29:19 (32nd), also a new pb
