Blofield went ahead after six minutes when Duncan Whitlam played a great ball to Danny McKail down the right and he knocked the ball over keeper Dave Attridge for a first-time finish.

Whitlam chested the ball down to set up McKail again, but his snapshot was straight at the keeper.

Kris Hart was finding space to get forward and with 25 minutes gone, Hart picked up the ball in midfield and his scuffed shot flicked off a defender into Chris Holmes’ path.

When his shot looped over Attridge into the net, a delighted Holmes celebrated his 20th goal of the season. Attridge got down well to push the ball round the post after Liam Barnes’ strike and Ben Morgan’s corner kick was headed just wide by Paul Warman at the near post.

It was 3-0 after 32 minutes when Liam Barnes timed his pass to perfection for Hart steaming into the area and his cross was tucked away by McKail from close range.

Blofield failed to clear the ball after 42 minutes and Hemmings made a diving save to his left to push Craig Bedingfield’s swerving shot wide, but a minute later, Bedingfield controlled the ball, turned and beat Cox and Hart for an easy finish to make it 3-1.

Blofield came out looking to put the game to bed, but Scott Bellis was allowed time to turn and shoot, but Matty Banham blocked the shot for a corner which Hemmings punched over the bar. With an hour played, Scott Bellis ran forward to play a reverse pass to Adam Bellis on the left and his shot beat Hemmings and Hart for Kirkley’s second.

Kirkley & Pakefield Res: Attridge, Bond, Borrett, Flower, Blowers, Bellis, Kerslake, Bedingfield, Bellis, Winram, Jenner. Subs: Hunton, Borrett, Boggis.
