Golfers at Gorleston are still keeping busy

Gorleston Golf Club’s men’s section held their Monthly Medal.

Winners: Division One, Mark Newson (68) from Brendan Gough (70), Division Two, Stuart Pearce (72) from Martin Farrow (73) and Division Three, Martin Bullen (68) from Barry Landles (71).

The ladies played a Foursomes Stableford which was won with 38 points by June Elliot and Heather Harvey. The annual cups for the best divisional medal and stableford competitions were presented by ladies’ captain Vonnie Thornton. Winners: Medal Bowl - Heather Harvey 67, Points Cup - Heather Harvey 23 and Bogey Bowl - Jayne Standen 34.33.

The club hosted the men’s local alliance where players from Gorleston, Rookery Park and Bungay Golf Clubs competed. The winners, with an outstanding 50 points, were the Gorleston pairing of Martin Pestle and Carl Ford. Second on 44 were Owen Darby and Chris Beare also from Gorleston.

Other Great Yarmouth sport

Gorleston made it four unbeaten in all competitions and two clean sheets in a row with this hard-fought win.
