BROADLAND-Great Yarmouth made their Eastern Counties Two comeback of the season. From 17-0 down in the first 15 minutes they turned the tide against a sprightly Haverhill.

Broadland steadied themselves and good work from wing Lee Raven put them close and Stacey Ledgerwood sent a penalty wide.

Perhaps the turning point was a run from the back of the scrum by No 8 Adam Towfighi, who breezed past the defensive line and put Haverhill on the back foot. A 5m scrum yielded the Yarmouth side's first points, as lock Sam French got the ball down in a pile of bodies (unconverted), but at the halfway point Broadland still had a lot to do.

Broadland's attacking plays became increasingly fluent. A storming run from lock Royce Chiddle got Broadland in close, Sam French took a quick tap penalty and dived over from close range (converted Ledgerwood).

Broadland forwards dominated tight play. Towfighi was making some superb breaks from the scrum and Haverhill were unable to stop the barrage of attacks.

In a weaving break Towfighi off-loaded for centre Stacey Ledgerwood to score and the lead came with a conversion from full back Doggett.

Richard Bristo, playing in his 150th game for Broadland, was in great form as he brushed tackles aside and Chiddle was making superb ground.

Scrum half Simon Ruddick got the ball away from the Broadland pack allowing Ash Lightfoot to put in a delicate chip. Ledgerwood caught the ball on the bounce, evaded two tackles before going the distance to score.

Superb defensive work from Sewell and Collings prevented a third Haverhill interception going the length for the score.

Haverhill were awarded a try at the final whistle despite protest from several Broadland players that the scorer had been held up.

Next, Broadland travel to play Harwich and Dovercourt.

Ovamil man-of-the-match (shared): Adam Towfighi, Stacey Ledgerwood and Royce Chiddle.

Tries: French (2), Ledgerwood (2). Penalty: Ledgerwood nought of one. Conversion: Doggett two out of two, Ledgerwood one out of two.
