A new £9,000 race for two-year-olds has attracted leading trainers to Great Yarmouth today.

Six of the eight runners in the British Stallions Stud EBF Stakes over six furlongs are making their debuts and good performances by them could see them catapulted into the glamour meeting at Royal Ascot next month.

Favourite is the John Gosden-trained Scat Daddy colt Legends Of War under Oisin Murphy while Godolphin is represented by Leading Spirit, an Exceed and Excel colt under William Buick for trainer Charlie Appleby.

Roger Varian has Andrea Atzeni in the saddle on the unraced San Donato, out of Lope De Vega, in what should prove a hot contest at 2.20pm, the first event on a seven-race card.

After the potentially star-studded opener, there are some exciting races in prospect with the 3.55pm mile and six furlongs long-distance contest seeing a field of 15, favourite for which is five-year-old gelding Bailarico, who carries a six-pound penalty after a win last week under Ed Greatrex.

The mare What A Party, trained by Gay Kelleway, has claims for local owner Michael Foulger while filly Kerre has a first run for trainer William Jarvis under Jamie Spencer.

Earlier, Spencer rides the David Simcock-trained Free Forum in the 3.25pm 11-furlong handicap favourite for which is the last time out winner Widnes under seven-pound claimer Darragh Keenan for Alan Bailey.

Shelley Birkett rides her mum Julia Feilden’s Go On Gal and the always popular duo have another main chance in the 5.25pm seven-furlong handicap with Limerick Lord, a winner of three of his last four starts. Main rival is Slow To Hand for Spencer and Jarvis, a runner-up last week.

The 2.55pm maiden over six furlongs is open with Ad Valorem Queen and Lalania in the reckoning along with Burford Brown under Jo Gordon for Hugo Palmer, the colt eighth on debut at Newmarket last autumn.

Another Newmarket trainer James Fanshawe has a top chance in the 4.25pm seven-furlong handicap with George Wood claiming a useful three pounds off Noble Star, a five-year-old gelding placed in all three starts last year.

Chris Wall, a trainer to stay on the right side of at the East coast course, runs Sesayah in the 4.55pm mile handicap, the Casamento filly under Tom Queally a previous course winner. Screaming Gemini under Atzeni for Varian is the key rival.

Selections: 2.20pm Legends of War, 2.55pm Dream of Life, 3.25pm Go On Gal, 3.55pm Kerre, 4.25pm Mujassam, 4.55pm Sesayah, 5.25pm Limerick Lord.
