March 2, Gorleston 3

Gorleston gained three more valuable points where it is never easy to obtain a result.

The pitch was sticky but Gorleston made a good start and held a 2-0 lead at half-time.

Peter Lambert returned to the side having recovered from his injury and was restored to his original position of striker after having featured in central midfield this season. On 15 minutes Ricky Butler crossed from the right and Lambert celebrated his recall by sending a header past the March keeper at the near post.

A second goal arrived when Adam Thurtle won the ball in midfield and released Luke Goreham on the left and he crossed to the far post where Lee Hunter crashed home his 21st goal of the season.

March reduced the arrears into the second half when their striker Anderson broke through and scored after another of their strikers had run back from an offside position.

Gorleston defended well after this and made the score 3-1 when Ricky Butler took

a corner kick which centre-back Leon Harewood headed down for Pete Lambert to fire home. March reduced the arrears when Anderson lobbed the ball over Tom Marsden.

Gorleston have benefited from the return of Kyle Howell and Adam Thurtle to the team after injuries and risen to sixth place.

Gorleston: T Marsden, K Howell, E Thompson, L Harewood, B Manning, R Butler, S Taylor, A Thurtle, L Goreham, L Hunter, T Lambert. Subs: G Ingram, J Bell, P Hunter, T Atkins, H Maddison.

Paul Hunter and Tom Atkins have just been signed from Bungay.
